What is North Fork Area Transit?

North Fork Area Transit is the new name for public transportation in and around Norfolk, previously known as Norfolk Public Transportation.  We are committed to providing affordable, accessible, and reliable transportation to residents in this region.

What services are offered?

ForkLift is regularly scheduled bus service within Norfolk that offers three flexroutes (see map on reverse side). These routes allow you to customize your stop within .-mile of the route when booked in advance.

TeleLift is our 24-hour advance reservation, curb-to-curb service, similar to what operates today. You can choose from two types of service: Local (up to 30 miles) and Regional (coming soon).

ExpressLift is our on-demand service, similar to Uber®. You can book your trip on a mobile device or call the office for a same-day ride. ExpressLift will be available in the next phase of service.

What is a “ForkLift Deviation” and how do I request one?

When a passenger is unable to get to the bus stop, they have the option of scheduling a deviation. If you are within .-mile of the bus route, you are eligible for curbside pick up or drop off. Ride deviations cost $1.50 per person. Call at least two hours in advance to schedule.

Who is eligible to use the services?

Everyone! All residents and visitors are welcome to ride.

How do I ride ForkLift?

The ForkLift flexroute service has approximately 100 marked bus stops throughout Norfolk with schedules available for each route. Walk to the bus stop and wait for the next bus traveling to your destination. Call or visit our website for assistance with route and schedule information.

What are the days and hours of operation?

ForkLift Bus Service will operate Monday-Friday from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays by appointment.

TeleLift Schedule Rides will operate Monday-Friday from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
